suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes
I have been having a very lovely email chat with a dolly out there who was in search of some inspirational eye makeup, similar to our beloved glam hippie. Her request got me thinking about my own makeup routine. I've been in this tragic winter rut where I feel accomplished if I swab on some eye liner and quickly pinch an eyelash curler through my lashes. Well, that will not do! I'm supplying some fab photos to help us all through the winter drear, hopefully giving you all a little inspiration to lift your spirits (and your lashes!)
With colors galore, glitter, shimmer, and tons of lashes, here are my favorite girls with kaleidoscope eyes:Twiggy looks marvelous, abandoning her mod androgyny for a mass of curls (and stars!) and heavily contoured colors Lauren Hutton opts for muted colors of burgundy, purple and orange for a startlingly gorgeous resultI loved when it was de rigueur in fashion of the sixties to paint your eyelids so heavily that they would droop! Anjelica Huston rocked the scant-eyebrow look, compensating with tons of color on her lidsSo many eyes, so little time! From the Pablo Manzoni crafted look in the upper left corner, to lady bug lids and petal lashes - so much inspiration!Elizabeth Taylor is most famous for her violet eyes, but it's interesting to see how her different films - like Cleopatra and Doctor Faustus - played them up in different waysBiba babe and supermodel Ingrid BoultingLovely hippie face paintJean Shrimpton is a constant source of makeup inspiration - her eyes are gorgeously full, it's easy to see how she captivated the likes of David Bailey and the editors of Vogue and Harper'sFrom lash line to eye brow, green shadow in varying shades is perfect for any occasion!Marissa Berenson is the ultimate beauty - I love her looks here rocking silver glitter, caterpillar lashes, and electric shadow Various covergirls of the sixties, sporting shadows, shimmers, and jewelsPamela Des Barres (and the rest of the GTO's - check out the star eyes in the left photo!) always looked lovely with her painted-on lashes, half-moon creases, and heartsPeggy Moffitt - always so daring, and yet so perfect. I don't think she ever misstep with her lookA Peggy-inspired film, Who Are You Polly Maggoo?, shows a young model in similar Moffitt makeup Runway models of today sport the over-the-top glam look on their eyesHippie face paint - such a dream! The rebel girl of the modeling world, Veruschka, was never one to shy away from the most daring looks and editorial creations - she always pushed the envelope of what was 'beautiful'Another one of fashion's bad gals, Donyale Luna, rocks some serious ear gear and eye paintTitle: from "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" (The Beatles)
