Award-Winning Style

Though February's the shortest month of the year, it's jam-packed with all kinds of events. It's Black History Month. Punxsutawney Phil let's us know whether ot not we can break out our Spring fashion a little early. Valentine's Day gives you the chance to shower that special someone with extra lovin'...or it's a painful reminder of your single status. And who doesn't love a great Presidents Day sale? February's also an awesome month because the 55th Grammy Awards will be airing on Sunday, February 10th at 8/7c on CBS!

I'm always excited to watch The Grammy Awards, not just for the music but for the fashion as well. Even if your favorite artist wasn't nominated, they still have a chance to win Best Dressed. And because The Grammys aren't as stuffy as those other award shows, your chance of seeing some outrageous ensembles is pretty high. (Raise your hand if you still remember J. Lo's Versace dress!!) Music and fashion just go together in perfect harmony. Gucci has even released a limited edition Grammy watch--it's that serious. One of the most coveted awards is for Best New Artist. And like the *Right-Click Save* diva that I am, I can find fashion inspiration anywhere. I'm going to share a few style ideas that were inspired by the nominees for the Best New Artist category. And the nominees are... Alabama Shakes
Video courtesy of YouTube This is a rock band from, wait for it...Alabama (did you guess correctly?). The "Alabama" part of their name was actually added later, as they used to be called The Shakes. They're nominated for two other Grammys besides Best New Artist, including one for Best Rock Performance for "Hold On". Alabama Shakes' debut album, Boys & Girls, gave me the idea for this style tip: Girls, steal a bit from the boys and add a small masculine touches to your outfit. You'll still be the sexy woman you always are, but with a twist no man can resist. My favorite *Right-Click Save* for this look is none other than Janelle Monáe, who worked with the next nominee on the list.

Okay, I have to admit I'm totally addicted to this American band's song, "We Are Young". I think what I love about it most is that it blends different musical genres. These guys have shown me that when you mix things up a bit, you can create something pretty cool. And that's my style tip for you: Don't be afraid to blend different elements into one outfit! Take risks...you never know what you'll get. Have some fun with your style!

Hunter Hayes

This cute country singer inspired me to explore the other side of the crazy print-mixing spectrum and reminded me of how sometimes, it's best to keep it simple. In his video for the song, "Wanted", Hunter rocked a simple black t-shirt. My next style tip? A great quality t-shirt can be the perfect foundation for a cool ensemble.

This New Orleans native has me "Thinkin Bout" including tangerine tones in my wardrobe thanks to the title of his album, Channel Orange. Pick a hue that's right for you and channel a little orange into your life as well. Add a few touches through your accessories, or go with a head-to-toe look.

The Lumineers

The hit song by this folk band was everywhere, right? I truly believe "Ho Hey" permeated the airways in 2012. Can you guess what the next style tip will be? Hats! Add a little retro swag to your ensemble with a fedora, beret, or fascinator. Do it like Beyonce!

Who do you think is going to win? I'm going with The Lumineers, though Fun.'s "We Are Young" is one of my favorite songs of 2012. I can't wait to see the performances by Justin Timberlake (it's about time!) and Rihanna. And I hope Miguel takes home the award for Song of the Year. "Adorn" is a great song!
Guess we're all gonna have to wait and see what The Grammy Awards have in store for us, huh?
Until next time, loves!
