DRESSING PROFESSIONALLY SERIES: THE CLASSIC PANT SUIT WITH A TWIST
Mood [Happy]
Currently Playing [Pink - Just Give me a Reason]

Welcome to my Dressing Professionally Series! As some of you have requested, I have decided to write a series on how to dress professionally in a work setting or in an interview situation. I'm hoping through this series, I will take you through my daily outfits as a professional and hopefully some mini-posts about appropriate shoes, purses, accessories, makeup and maybe hairstyles for succeeding in the professional world. I will also be suggesting some places that you can go to purchase your business attires for reasonable prices. Now, I have to first clarify that I am by no means in the business industry, rather I'm a professional teacher. The school that I'm teaching at is a bit more conservative, thus, all the teachers have a strict dress code. However, I do try my very best to push the boundaries because well, I hate being restricted when it comes to what I wear. So what can I say? I only learn the rules just to break them later. Therefore, please understand that not all outfits may be suitable for you.
From Hong Kong blazer, H&M x Comme des Garçons polka dot shirt (a few seasons ago), Urban Planet dress pants (current season), Walmart wedges (current season), Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, House of Harlow earrings

The first look that I want to share with you is the classic pant suit with a twist! This is a forever classic and you really can't go wrong with a pant suit. It will never go out of style and it's appropriate for just about any profession and business related occasions. So whether you're a lawyer, an accountant or a CEO, a pant suit usually say that you are ready for business.

I really like to keep my pant suit simple by staying within the neutral colours, whether it's black, grey or brown. (Remember you don't have to buy the pant suit from the same store, as long as the colour matches, you can buy them separately to save some money!) But how I like to spice up the outfit is by adding a pop of colour or pattern with the shirt underneath. In this case, I paired this outfit with a polka dot shirt to jazz it up. You can also do this by changing around your accessories or shoes. Stick with a straight leg cut because it will stay in style a little bit longer.

Lastly, I want to point out that I really hate spending too much on business attires. I know, they are suppose to be an investment, but I can never justify spending too much money on something that I would usually deem as "boring". So I tend to like to mix between more affordable pieces with more expensive items. I personally think it's a good balance between the two without breaking your piggy bank. These dress pants are actually great material and they only set me back $15 at Urban Planet. (For those who do not know Urban Planet, just picture a much messier and sometimes "trash-ier" Forever 21). And these wedges from Walmart ($16) are not only extremely comfortable but very, very affordable! So even if you're not making big bucks right now, you can still look good while you're climbing the corporate ladder.
